Product Details
“My First Crayola Mess-Free Touch Lights” enables kids to doodle on a contained gel sealed surface perfect for portable play. Entirely mess-free, the board also lights up in twelve different colors and plays music; six distinctive songs to be exact. Children can use their fingers to create and then erase artwork.

Pros and Benefits
The item certainly promotes creativity. The songs are at turns lively and soothing and the colors are bright and cheerful. It is somewhat hypnotic–even relaxing–to press down on the gel. The tablet is lightweight and comfortable to hold or sit upon your lap and the screen is very cool to the touch. The gel also has a textured quality to it that is fun to take a closer look at. Hence, this is an item that will likely entrance children for hours on end. Best of all, due to its moderate size and light weight, this is an excellent travel toy. It is also quite durable.
Cons and Drawbacks
This item requires three AA batteries to operate and these batteries are not included so the item is not ready to be played with right out of the box. The gel spreads easily, but you have to press down hard to see the colors shining through. Also, certain colors (like the dark blue) emit much better than others (like the pink). While it is fun to watch the gel spread, it can be hard to “clear” the board afterwards to the point that all traces of the past scribbles are gone. Moreover, since this item is useful as a travel toy, I wish it came with a little handle that would make it easier to carry around from one place to another.
