Big Talk about Tiny Humans is India’s first science-backed, research-based podcast with insights on child development and psychology for discerning parents and educators. Devishobha, the founder of Kidskintha and Dr. Meghna, The Therapist Mommy have a lot of fun co-hosting this podcast in collaboration with IVM podcasts, the largest podcast network in India! Join us along this roller-coaster ride!
Raising awareness about child sexual abuse
In this episode, hosts Dr. Meghna and Devishobha talk about why child sexual abuse is more common than we would like to believe, and the top misconceptions parents have about making their children aware of the abuse and preparing them to deal with it in an appropriate manner. Devishobha and Meghna share real-life incidents where simple, regular communication could have prevented abuse and trauma for the child. They go on to discuss why teaching them about ‘safe and unsafe touch’s better than ‘good touch bad touch’ to educate kids about sexual abuse, what questions to ask before you send your child for a summer camp or even school, why using euphemisms for body parts is detrimental to children, and finally some curated strategies to prepare your child to be alert and aware to prevent incidents of child sexual abuse, and also deal with them appropriately, should an unfortunate experience befall them.

I cannot thank you enough for supplying these talks. I am a special education teacher, PreK-6th grade, in Montana, USA. I am so grateful to have instruction and insight from so many experts available to me. Thank you also for providing the links for follow-up questions and diving deeper into their areas of expertise. This summit will make a difference in the way I approach
assessment, instruction, and intervention in my classroom, as well as how I collaborate with my general education colleagues and parents. All that and I am only halfway through day 1!

I am impressed with your hard work and your immense curiosity, passion, and determination to execute this summit at this hour when the world is battling. All the lectures were well organized and planned, and cherry on top well lined up! The best feedback I want to tell you is I was so woven with the lectures that I managed to complete them on the designated days! I was so glued to all the lectures that I carried my screen and hands-free to the kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom to complete them and generate notes to share with my colleagues and apply them at work.

I am thrilled to see a conference hosted by an Indian parenting website that has brought together renowned names in the various fields of parenting. Not only are the presenters known, but the topics have also been curated to give parents practical ways to better themselves. Areas like resilience, social-emotional well-being, skilling for adolescents,
etc. are relevant and needed areas of discussion. I got to see a preview of a session on mindfulness by Christopher Willard and was impressed with the ease with which Devishobha guides the discussion to the needs of the Indian parent community. I am
looking forward to listening to more of the speakers during the conference.

Devishobha has been a great collaborator with my organization on behalf of preventing child abuse. She has been brilliant at getting simple, effective, and actionable advice and tools to parents. She brings together the best people in an easy-to-access online format. It is so unusual to work with someone who has a sense of quality and accessibility for parents!

I would like to thank you very much for holding the special kid's international summit. I had applied to more than 20 alternative schools all over India two years ago for my son's admission, but nothing worked out. I knew the existing school was not good enough for him. I felt frustrated and could not understand what plans God had for me. However I am very grateful to you for making me aware of so many aspects, now my son has got admission to a school specially meant to teach children like him, in New Jersey and my son is very happy.

I am an avid researcher regarding parenting techniques, especially for complex or spirited children, and have already found this summit so helpful. I especially loved Bonnie Harris’s piece. Thank you for bringing all of these great resources to the world in a way we can easily access.

Very very interesting session! It was really wonderful the way the whole thing was explained with regard to the Indian context with practical solutions! Great job!
I still remember the terrifying moment during my daughter’s toddler days when I had come out of the house instinctively to check on her only to have my heart skip several beats! I found her dangerously close to falling from a wall! I profusely thanked my motherly intuition for that savior moment! The undeniable #SahiWaliFeeling- or not - that every mom has for their child.
We’ve known for a long time that motherhood changes us—duh, right?—but scientists are just starting to characterize the precise nature of those bodily and psychological changes. Scientists have known for a couple of decades that women’s brains shrink during pregnancy. The running hypothesis is that ‘brain shrinking’ might actually be a sign of the brain honing its circuits for mothering.
We might often say and mean it in a funny vein but the ‘mommy brain’ is a result of pregnancy. Women’s brains are permanently altered after childbirth. While science has confirmed the permanent changes in women’s brains, there’s an ongoing conversation on the ‘motherhood instinct.’ Experts agree that moms can be more sensitive or susceptible to particular cues, and this kicks off almost immediately after childbirth. Thanks to Huggies #SahiWaliFeeling campaign that is instilling confidence in a lot of moms to trust their instincts. Stop judging yourself. Go with the flow.

Join us for a LIVE session with the authors of the anthology ‘ My Act of Heart’ - a collection of real acts of compassion by children from all over the world! Thanks to @Anjali Gurmukhani Sharma and Deepika Ahuja for taking this idea from seed all the way to fruition! Today’s stars are Ananya Ramanan and Aditya Tyagi sharing their stories about what led to the act of compassion and how it has informed them further. Join us at 3 PM today! #selflove #gratitude #selfkindness #compassion #childrensliterature
‘The Act of Heart’- the book is as special as the title is beautiful. When the world is reeling under uncertainty, one constant element that has kept hope alive is little acts of compassion from people known and unknown- and these children- all 29 of them, are totally owning it, combining passion with compassion.
This book is a labor of love by Anjali Gurmukhani Sharma @anj_g_sharma of Charters of Compassion and Deepika Ahuja @deepika_forever1 who planted the seed of an idea to share real stories of acts of compassion by children, and has been almost 2 years in the making. This book is not only inspiring to other children and adults alike, but it also shines a light on the minds of children from the age of 6-15 from all over the world, and the book complements the storytelling with rich illustrations- again in part by children.
Tomorrow, we are bringing two such stories to limelight through our live talk with Grace Tijo @grace_tijo6 and Deeksha @ajmerkidivya. Tune in to hear the heartwarming stories of these children who are already making the world a better place. Teaching children positive money habits from an early age helps them to make responsible financial decisions later in life. The best time to learn about the value of money occurs when children remain safely under their parents’ wings — not when they’re adults and money mistakes cost far more👏
